GCSE
Exam board: Edexcel

Age: secondary school and adult students (ますForm, てForm, たForm, ないForm, Dictionary-form)
Suggested teaching hours: 60 - 100 hours dependant upon the level of the student(s)

Writing an essay up to 300 characters using Hiragana, Katakana, and 200 kanji
Speaking about media, travel, culture, sport, leisure and work for 8-10 minutes
Reading and responding to written Japanese/ Listening and responding to spoken Japanese

GCE AS level

Exam Board: Edexcel

Age: post-16 students
Suggested teaching hours: approx. 50 hours 
dependant upon the level of the student(s)

Reading and responding to written Japanese
Translating Japanese text into English
Writing an essay about youth culture, lifestyle, travel, environment, education and employment up to 400 characters using 400 kanji (200 from GCSE)

GCE A level

Age: post-16 students

Reading and responding to written Japanese
Translating English text into Japanese
Writing essays about youth culture, lifestyle, travel, environment, education, customs, beliefs, religions, national/international events, literature and employment up to 600 characters using 600
kanji (400 from AS Level)
